This workshop will dive into reviewing the key components of how to build trust. Then attendees will learn how to deliver positive feedback that can be actionable in practice. They will review the various styles of leadership, from transactional to transformational and discuss the various types of situations where one style of leadership may lead to more satisfactory results than another. We will review the languages of appreciation and discuss how to leverage knowing our team's appreciation languages to help build a trust bank that allows for ebbs and flows that happen with less than perfect communication, without negative impact to the relationship.

Research shows that highly-trusted workplaces enjoy 50% higher employee productivity and 13% fewer sick days! And companies with high trust levels outperform companies with low trust levels by 186%. With numbers like that in front of veterinary leadership, it makes nothing but sense to invest time and energy into building trusting relationships across the board in our practices - with our clients for the good of our patients and for the good of our teams. In this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to brainstorm ways to improve client experience before an appointment even begins in their practice. It will help them set clearer expectations for themselves so they can set clearer expectations for their clients and avoid miscommunications and conflict for their team. I am excited about this topic because it is an unexplored world of research and information that can benefit veterinary medicine and has been applied for over 100 years to other service industries. Three main learning objectives include: learning how people perceive wait times and ways to manage expectations, the effects of managing queues well in a business (for the team and the bottom line), exploring ways to apply the research to a veterinary practice.

I bring a unique perspective with my knowledge of veterinary medicine and exposure to the theme park industry and their techniques of queue management. This allows me to help attendees to explore realistic and practical applications of the concepts to veterinary practice while also making it fun and interesting with examples from theme park experiences.

How to successfully manage and tap into the superpowers you don't want to miss from your neurodivergent team members and future hires

Is the team member you're struggling to manage really toxic, or do they need a different kind of support in daily practice? Are you missing untapped potential because of the same roadblocks over and over again? Some of the ways that neurodivergent individuals perceive the world can present unique challenges for practice managers, but they can also bring incredible insight to the table because of that perspective. Ron Sosa, CVPM will share his unique perspective as a neurodivergent practice owner and manager to help you learn:

Traits that commonly appear (and may cause challenges) for neurodivergent team members in practice
Traits that are incredible assets and often overlooked which neurodivergent individuals bring to veterinary practices
